In short: after a storm, the first job is stopping water. An emergency tarp or dry-in typically costs $150–$1,500 as an estimate. Then we document the damage with photos and measurements and write an itemized estimate for your insurance claim.

What to do right after the storm
- Stay off the roof. Wet tile and loose shingles are dangerous, and walking on damaged tile breaks more of it.
- Photograph what you can from the ground and inside: ceiling stains, missing pieces, debris in the yard.
- Stop the water. Call us for a tarp or dry-in. Your policy expects you to prevent further damage.
- Call your insurer to open the claim and get the adjuster's details.
- Keep receipts for the tarp and anything you buy to protect the house.
Our storm damage report
We go over every slope and photograph each damaged area: missing or creased shingles, cracked and displaced tile, lifted metal, torn flashing, and any wet decking we can reach. The written estimate lists each item so your adjuster can compare it line by line with theirs.
Storm work prices
| Job | Estimated price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency tarp or dry-in | $150–$1,500 | Size and roof type drive it |
| Storm repair, isolated damage | $400–$2,000 | A few slopes or less |
| Full replacement after a storm | From $15,000 | Shingle; tile and metal higher |
These prices are estimates. What your policy pays depends on your coverage and deductible. Hurricane deductibles in Florida are often a percentage of the home's insured value rather than a flat amount.
A word on storm-chasers
After big storms, out-of-area crews knock on doors across Lee County. Florida law bars contractors from offering to pay or waive your insurance deductible and from offering gifts or rebates to get you to file a claim. Anyone who offers that is asking you to break the terms of your policy. Ask for a Florida license number and a local phone number, and check the license on the state's DBPR site.
Questions about storm damage repair
Will you deal with my insurance company?
We give you the photos and the itemized estimate and will meet the adjuster on the roof if you want us there. The claim itself stays between you and your insurer.
How quickly can you tarp my roof?
Active leaks go to the front of the line. After a major storm everyone calls at once, so call early and we will tell you honestly when we can be there.
Is a tarp covered by insurance?
Most policies expect you to prevent further damage and treat reasonable emergency repairs as part of the claim. Keep the invoice and photos, and check your policy.
